❓What exactly is coaching for neurodivergent people?
Coaching offers practical, personalised support to help you understand how your brain works, and how to make life work better around it. Whether that’s emotional regulation, routines, motivation, or study skills, I work with you to build tools that feel doable and sustainable. It’s about support that fits you.
❓Is this the same as therapy or counselling?
Not quite. Coaching isn’t therapy or counselling. It doesn’t go deep into past trauma or diagnose mental health conditions. Instead, we focus on the here and now, what’s getting in the way, and what we can do about it together. If I ever feel therapy might be a better fit, I’ll always talk to you gently and guide you to the right support.
❓Do I or my child need a diagnosis to access coaching?
Not at all. Many of the young people and adults I work with are undiagnosed, self-identifying, or still exploring whether they’re neurodivergent. Coaching is for anyone who feels they think or process differently and wants to feel more in control of their emotions, energy, or learning.
❓How do sessions work?
Most sessions take place online via Microsoft Teams, so you can access support from the comfort of your own home.
We begin with a free 20–30 minute Discovery Call. This is a relaxed chat to see if we’re a good fit, and to start shaping the goals you'd like to work on through coaching—whether that's emotional regulation, study habits, or something else entirely.
Regular coaching sessions are 45 minutes long, which I find works well for focus and energy levels. For younger children, I often offer 30-minute sessions that feel more manageable and engaging. For students working on study skills, I sometimes include optional 10-minute check-ins to help with accountability and consistency.
After each session, you'll be given small tasks or strategies to try out before we meet again. These aren't "homework" in the traditional sense, they're designed to help you practise what we've explored and gently build momentum. All I ask is that you do your best, progress, not perfection.
❓Is there a set number of sessions or a fixed plan you follow?
I usually recommend a minimum of 5–6 sessions, especially if you have a clear and focused goal in mind. That said, neurodivergent experiences are rarely linear, and everyone’s journey looks a little different.
While I always work with you to set goals and create a loose plan, the process is intentionally flexible. We might spend more time on one area than expected, or shift focus entirely if something more urgent comes up. With neurodivergence, things can click into place quickly,or take time, and real life often brings surprises.
My approach is responsive, not rigid. We move at your pace, adjusting as we go.
❓What age ranges do you support?
I work with children aged 10 and up, through to university students and adults. I adjust my approach depending on age, communication style, and needs, there’s no “one size fits all.”
❓How involved are parents in the process?
If I’m working with a child or teen, parents are very much part of the journey. I’ll check in regularly and share helpful ideas so you feel confident supporting things at home. Parents send me updates before sessions, helping me adapt the session if necessary. That said, I also make sure young people have space to explore things privately where appropriate.
❓What kinds of things do you help with?
Every person is different, but common areas we explore include:
• Emotional regulation and meltdowns
• Procrastination, focus, and time management
• Building routines that actually work
• Managing anxiety, overwhelm or transitions
• Study and revision skills
• Motivation and self-esteem
• Understanding ADHD or other ND traits
❓How do I know if coaching is right for us?
If you or your child often feel stuck, overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure how to move forward—coaching might be a really helpful space. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. If you're unsure, just get in touch. I’m always happy to have a no-pressure chat.
